Sustainable Process Development

The mission of the Food Process Engineering is to explore new principles for preparing food structure and food ingredients. Scientifically, we aim at:

  1. an improved understanding of the dynamics of dispersed fluids and solids (relevant to food production)
  2. translate the insight gained towards processes for sustainable production of foods and food ingredients.

Societally, we aim at finding processes that are significantly more sustainable, producing  products that combine excellent taste with better nutrition.

Food process Engineering strongly participates in several graduate schools and research institutes ( VLAG , OSPT , TIFN , ISPT , WETSUS ); it co-operates with several research institutes and industrial partners in The Netherlands and abroad. The research program strongly depends on third-party funding and peer review.
